Mark Pomeranz, 54, targeting Inuit women in Dorval area – Montreal and Nunavik police seeking information from victims of sexual assault

September 17, 2025

Montréal – September 15, 2025 – The Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) and the Nunavik Police Service (NPS) are seeking the assistance of the public in reaching out to potential victims of sexual assault in the Dorval area of Montreal.

In late August, a suspect, Mark Pomeranz, age 54, was arrested for sexual assault. Police investigators believe this suspect had other victims, particularly among Inuit women living in the Dorval area. The investigation team would like to gather testimony from anyone who may have witnessed his criminal behaviour.

From information known, the suspect approaches a victim in a public place in Dorval, with the intention of earning their trust before offering them a ride in his vehicle. After isolating the victim, he commits sexual assault, involving threats and intimidation, before abandoning the victim and driving away.

Mark Pomeranz is a white male, aged 54, who speaks English. He is 5’5” (1.75 m) tall and weighs 180 lbs (82 kg). He has brown hair and hazel eyes. A photo of Mr. Pomeranz is presented here, and the police are requesting the sharing of this image.

Also, the SPVM is sharing a photo of a vehicle – with licence plate number AMB 68M – that police believe the suspect was driving at the time of the assault.

Police are asking victims, or anyone who has witnessed an assault by Mark Pomeranz, to go to a neighbourhood police station, or to contact the SPVM’s Section des agressions sexuelles directly at 514-799-7225, or to call 911.

The NPS also is collecting information, and victims and witnesses living in Nunavik can contact the NPS directly at their community police station.

The SPVM and NPS also remind the public that anyone can provide information anonymously and confidentially:
