Two individuals arrested and chargedin disappearance of Kangiqsualujjuaq resident

Kuujjuaq – September 11, 2025 – On June 24, the disappearance of a 31-year-old man from Kangiqsualujjuaq was reported to the Nunavik Police Service (NPS). The search was initially initiated by the NPS, but was subsequently transferred on July 7 to investigators from the Sûreté du Québec’s Crimes Against Persons Investigation Division (SQ-CAPID).
The investigation was conducted by SQ-CAPID in collaboration with the NPS, and determined that the individual, who had been missing since June 20, was believed to be the victim of a homicide.
On September 9, investigators arrested two individuals in connection with this incident: Peter Saunders, 28, arrested in Kuujjuaq, and Sandy Mesher, 57, arrested in Montreal. They appeared in court on various charges, including second-degree murder, accessory to murder, and indignity to a corpse. They are being held in custody pending further judicial proceedings.
