🚨 ROAD SAFETY: LET’S PROTECT OUR CHILDREN 🚨
On September 16, as part of a national road safety campaign, officers from the Nunavik Police Service (NPS) carried out awareness activities around schools in several communities, including Salluit, Puvirnituq, Akulivik, and Ivujivik.
Keeping children safe is a shared responsibility. Stay alert and do your part!
🔴 Drivers:
• Near schools and school buses, slow down and yield to children crossing the road.
• As soon as red lights are flashing or the stop sign arm is extended, stop your vehicle (truck, ATV, snowmobile) at least 5 metres away from the bus, whether you are approaching from behind or from the opposite direction.
🚌 Students and Parents:
• Never approach a school bus before it has come to a complete stop, and wait for the driver’s visual signal before crossing in front of the bus (never cross behind it).
• Always look both ways (left-right-left) before crossing the street.
