A new Inuk police officer among our ranks
On September 23, in his hometown of Umiujaq, Constable Jerry Paterson took his swearing in oath at the local school, surrounded by smiling children, proud family members, and the Chief of Police.
His father, a retired police officer, his mother, and his sister were all present to witness this meaningful moment.
Inuk police officers like Jerry will, we hope, become role models for young Inuit, showing that a career in policing is an attainable dream.
This event carries deep significance not only for Jerry and his family, but also for the entire Inuit community.
We celebrate this achievement and the inspiration it brings to future generations.
Congratulations, Constable Paterson: fallen footsteps followed with pride!
